The Rider Agreement outlines the rights and responsibilities of the rider and event organisation. It states the risks involved in taking part and asks riders to waive the responsibility of those risks for the event organisation.
1. The following is a list of minimum kit that every rider is required to carry for the duration of the event:
⦁ Helmet ⦁ Navigation device ⦁ Waterproof jacket
⦁ Water ⦁ Front & rear lights ⦁ Bell on handlebar to alert other trail users
⦁ Basic first aid kit - this includes bandages, antiseptic/sterile wipes, medication for any condition that a rider is prescribed to be one.
⦁ Mobile phone (switched on for the duration of the event so the event organisers can contact you in case of an emergency)
⦁ In addition on unsupported multi day events such as the Calder Divide Trail, Seven Valleys, Pennine 500 or Source to Sea Trail must have a suitable sleeping system and / or emergency (survival) blanket.
2. All participants on a Yorkshire Divide bike event are entirely responsible for themselves and ride at their own risk. Yorkshire Divide will provide participants with a GPX File of the entire route a few days before the start. Every rider must find his or her own way along the route. Yorkshire Divide accepts no liability for damage or loss of bike or personal belongings or a riders body whilst participating in one of our events.
3. Riders must ensure their bikes are in sound mechanical order, serviced to a professional standard and with brakes that are fully functional and as such the bike as a whole is suitable for riding on ‘off-road’ terrain that consists of mud, rock, gravel, grass, bedrock and cobbles.
4. Individual riders must have their own insurance to cover for the loss, theft or damage to their bicycle and personal kit whilst participating in a Yorkshire Divide event. The event hubs we use and the campsites we hire are open to members of the public and as such there is an element of risk in leaving a bicycle and kit at these sites. It is not the event organizers responsibility to guard your personal equipment. In addition a rider would have peace of mind with their own personal insurance to cover for loss or damage to their bike and personal liability whilst on bridleways and public highways.
5. The route we use is predominantly along public bridleways, causeways and greenways across fields and moors and therefore riders are advised to take due care in the vicinity of cows with calves, horses and other animals. All farm gates must be closed after use.
6. There are a number of road crossings and sections of the route on public highways therefore riders will be expected to stop at all crossing points and take due care.
7. As there are no feed or water stations staffed by the event organiser along the route and so riders must familiarise themselves with the location of supply points in the villages and towns scattered along the route. Rubbish belongs in bins and not on the route.
8. The event organiser, Yorkshire Divide, will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sexuality, disability, religious or political belief, marital status or age. The event organiser believes that bike events should reflect the wider society from which they grow and therefore we welcome entry from all individuals.
9. The cancellation policy is that if a rider wishes to cancel their entry in the event then up till four weeks before the start date they are entitled to a FULL refund, up to two weeks before the event a rider can receive a 50% refund. Less than a week till the event date there are no refunds but a rider will be offered a transfer to the event or a similar one held in the following year.
10. Riders must ensure that when they sign onto an event they record an accurate and up to date contact name and phone number with SiEntries for the Event Organisers to use in case of an emergency.
11. The organiser, Yorkshire Divide, reserves the right to alter, edit and amend the route / routes for any event in light of trail conditions that arise through trail closure, track erosion, landslips, farmers blocking tracks, closed bridges and a multitude of other factors that can necessitate the alteration of a route. The organiser will endeavor to inform riders in due course of the alterations and offer a no hassle money back guarantee prior to the event.
12. There is no signage saying ‘Yorkshire Divide’ or 'route this way' out on the hills, moors and valleys. Whilst a gpx file created on ‘Ride with GPS’ that shows the route will be provided, it is the riders responsibility to ensure they have a working navigation device and can operate it to navigate their way along the route from the start line to the finish line.
This set of rules, rights and responsibilities can be altered at any time.
